I beleive GMO danger to human and animal health.

Where are all the GMO comments? Don’t be shy, my friends! What do you think of Jeffrey’s presentation? Got questions for his Q&A session?

    • Cindy Poulsen

After learning more about GMOs from Mr. Smith, I am more disgusted than ever with our government in the USA for allowing so many of these monstrocities to make it to market. Is there a way to reverse any damage done? My daughter was born with food allergies (now I know it was probably due to my poor diet choices unknowingly). I avoided all of those foods while I was nursing, but when she decided to quit nursing I went back to the dairy, caffeine, etc. that I had been avoiding. She changed her mind (after about a week) and decided to nurse again, but I was contaminated by then. She ended up on a soy formula and now that she is an adult, I see where some of what I did to her (albeit unknowingly) might be the root cause for some of her health issues as an adult now.

      • Elene Murray

Cindy, when someone has LOTS of allergies there is a problem with gut permeability. A common culprit is gluten, which is the protein part of every grain.

I believe the gluten is a part of the protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. There are grains available without gluten such as oats that have not been cross contaminated, quinoa, millet, and buckwheat.

      Good stuff.

Earlier this year, my husband took a biotechnology law class in law school.  His professor was all into the benefits of GMOs, and my husband came home for the first few weeks telling me about all the advantages of having blue roses, or being able to have your vaccines or aspirin already in your food.  It caused quite a few heated discussions, because I had been listening to your stuff for a while already.

I think that I at least convinced him to be on the fence about the issue.  I ended up checking out Genetic Roulette from the library for him to look at.  It was a hard book for me to really get into; I’m looking forward to the movie.

Thank you Jeffrey Smith! I have forwarded so much of your info to friends and fam. EVERYONE needs to educate themselves on GMOs and all of the other issues with our food supply. I try to tell everyone I can! I guess one question I have is- are the effects of GMOs primarily long term? Or is there evidence showing that GMOs have immediate effects?

    • http://healthfulinspirations.com/ Allegra

      in humans, I mean

  • http://healthfulinspirations.com/ Allegra

I just can’t get over the fact that GMOs are out there and they do not have to be labeled. That is SO WRONG! But we cannot wait on the government to do the right thing. We need to educate ourselves and others.

This information is so timely. Thank you for your hard work!
One very real obstacle I’ve encountered while sharing about GM foods is with the middle-aged to elderly generations; it’s hard for them to believe that the foods they’ve been eating their whole lives are now (secretly, silently) filled with toxic substances. How can I approach the topic better with them?

    • Taniko Kishimoto

The movie Jeff Smith mentioned as arriving in the near future might help do the trick, I suspect.

  • Annie

I wonder if genetic modification has any correlation to the increasing #’s of those with food allergies – celiac disease to mention one…

    • http://twitter.com/shegathers Tracy Stokes

Robyn O’Brien wrote a book called “The Unhealthy Truth” that has documented research pointing to the peanut allergy starting to escalate the same year that the GM soybean was introduced into our diets. It’s a great book and explains a good bit about food allergies.

  • Taniko Kishimoto

Thanks for this presentation!  I do have one thought, which has probably been shot down because I cannot believe it has yet to be used — why can’t farmers being sued by Monsanto bring up a countersuit claiming that Monsanto seed Tresspassed over property lines, and Molested their non-GMO seed?  (I know it is expensive, but wouldn’t there be some test case, somewhere???)

    • Gilbert

Monsanto has lots of money and high priced attorneys

So if you just eat real food then you have no concern. The amount of GMO’s you consume will be significantly small…

Such an important topic and so well-covered by Jeffrey Smith. It’s all about knowledge and choice. Some studies so far have displayed some disturbing outcomes such as a 2009 study published in the International Journal of Biological Sciences which found signs of hepatorenal (liver and kidney) toxicity in rats fed three main commercialized genetically modified (GM) maize. The study also found that “in addition, some effects on heart, adrenal, spleen and blood cells were also frequently noted.” This among other disturbing signs (hamsters fed GMOs grew hair in their mouths) prompted me to write this blog about GMOs: http://thefitrx.com/blog/liver-toxicity-sterility-and-hair-growth-in-the-mouth-the-effects-of-gmos/Label GMOs folks!

  • GlamaWright

KNOWledge is Power…thanx for the education.  Shame on MONsanto…boycott NOW!..Keep spreading the Word.  GMO is banned in Europe,,,USA deserves the same.

  • Christopher Rubin

What is the proliferation of GM alfalfa, is there truly such a thing as GM or organic soy or corn.

  • http://permanent-culture.com/ Christopher Rubin

Will we see ranchers labeling there GM alfalfa-finished ruminants as ”grass-fed and finished”  ?

  • Brenda Mc

Listened to this while puttering around in the kitchen this morning.  This is some scary stuff!  Makes me want to clean out my pantry and fridge!  Thanks for all the info.  Will surely print out the list of foods and take it with me to the store from now on!

  • Judy C.

Great interview! Are there any differences in the health dangers caused by raw GMOs versus cooked GMOs? Asking mainly just out of curiosity, since we avoid all that junk anyway!

  • Deb B

EXCELLENT explanation of GMOs. I thought it was a bad idea but your information rounded that out to pure evil, bad science, damage to the food chain, dirt, and anything and everything GMO touches.

No discussion with Jeffrey is complete without the “Just Say No to GMO” song:
