Have been trying to adjust my eating habits in the hope that it will help the fibromyalgia that has manifested in my body.  So many different ways of eating, whole foods, unprocessed, low carb, no nightshades blah, blah, blah, seem to be proding excellent results in some people but, there are so much conflicting information.  I don’t know what to believe and what to not believe.  What really helps fibromyalgia pain and lack of energy?

    • auburnette

Fibromyalgia is a bucket that MD’s use when they don’t know what to do with chronic pain. In most cases, food allergies and eliminating the culprits will help dramatically. Lack of energy can be connected as when we are in a constant inflammatory state our adrenals and key organs cannot function as we are disrupting them. For myself and many of my massage therapy clients, I found out I was allergic to wheat, corn, eggs and a few others. I sent a hair sample to http://www.testyourintolerances.com (no I am not getting paid, just sharing info.) and their report confirmed my suspicions. I am now pain free, as I have removed quite a bit of the ‘offenders’ from my diet. it is worth it, as I was a pain reliever taker daily for a while.  Lack of energy will go away when you find out why you are having the pain instead of masking it each day with a ‘bandaid’. The GMO’s have really ruined our bodies…my girlfriend who is way more allergic to many things than I, went to europe and ate everything with no consequences. They don’t use GMO’s at all over there, so what the Summit is teaching on many levels is very true. Folks that think we are ‘conspiracy theorists’ are just people with their fear of reality at the forefront. We have to advocate for ourselves, as no one else will! :)

        Hi auburnette,

The link that you have provided does not work. I have been
wanting to do testing for food sensitivities/allergies but I keep on hearing
that it is not very accurate. There is a whole bunch of companies that do
testing. I am now on elimination diet (for the past almost 4 weeks) and I do
not feel any different. I have been eating reasonably healthy before the diet
        though.

    • Annelie

I know what you mean, but since I gave up grains the pain and stiffness in my hands have gone, not only that, I have not had one asthma attack. I am a newbie at this as well. All I can say is educate yourself, try this and that and see what happens.Eating processed foods has got to be the main problem. Good luck to you :)

        Me too

    • Renni_G

It looks like this site is for US residents. http://www.testyourintoleranceusa.com/ (auburnette recommended below) Food allergy testing be may a good start for you.
I have started to try EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique to deal with some issues. I am new to it, and feel silly doing it, but I am giving it a try. http://www.garythink.com/eft/eft-tutorial.html. It’s no charge to take his/his daughter’s tutorial that I saw. They are the founders, however, if you search eft and fibromyalgia, there are many testimonials. I sent it to my friend who collects disability due to her fibromyalgia, very painful for her and sometimes she is bedridden. If you had any surgeries, you may also be experiencing pain from scar tissue, a condition that many doctors won’t ask a patient about.

Finally! Somebody who has the guts in europe to name it officially. Beeing german I didn’t understand every word she said, but most of it and I believe her. It’s as usual all about the money and I’m sick and tired of it, that people who own so much money can rule the world any way they like.We all were looking at greece, condeming them  for their politic of corruption. Instead we should  take a close look at our own governments to let them know that we have a right to get the best food there is and not that crap that the food industries give us for big bucks. I want to encourage Zoe to continue her good work and to somehow make everything more public, so that more people have a chance to inform and change things for themselves since our politicians don’t seem to care.
Sean, you are doing a brilliant job, Luv it

  • Katalinfidel

    Loved this one!

  • Annelie

Keeping it real! That’s the bottom line. Thank you Zoe for what you do!

Where can I find the data on cholesterol and people with heart disease for all 192 countries? I would love to have some fun with this.

    • heretic

You can find the data on the WHO website.  http://www.who.int/healthinfo/en/

      • Elaine

I went to that link and found MANY links to articles describing a positive relationship between elevated cholesterol and heart disease.  Where is the other data?

        • joymassa

I haven’t checked her site; http://www.zoeharcombe.com ; however, Zoe is the one who plotted all the information and found those correlations! She mentioned she’s made that presentation at conferences; so maybe !! (hope) she’s done a blog about it too…I’ll try – you, too and we’ll see, right?!

        • Kh2fold

The problem is that cholesterol is sent to repair damage caused by inflammation. So when cholesterol attempts to repair damaged arteries, it gets the blame for clogging those arteries. The true culprit is the cause of the inflammation, most likely caused by excess blood glucose.

        • Lyndsey P Johnson

I heard a doctor say (sorry,Dr. I can’t remember your name ): “when you see flies swarming a pile of garbage, do you assume the flies brought it there?” Same idea with atherosclerosis and cholesterol.

    • Gina Rieg

Yes me too!  Can  you please provide the source?  Thanks!

  • Ceryniti

Thank you so much! I’ve been trying to convince people that eggs are really very good for you, especially the yolk, and having your evidence to back it up is great! Wonderful, thank you for everything that you are doing!

    • Annelie

I remember when I heard not to eat the yolk…I thought it was nuts!

Sean and Zoe, what an eye opener. Thank you!

    • seancroxton

      Thank YOU for attending!

This is fascinating.  My education was at the U of MN – where Ancel Keys conducted his research.  He’s pretty much revered around here and people look aghast if one dares criticize him.  Here’s hoping they eventually come around.

    • Kh2fold

Just demand clinical studies to back his claims. That should silence the classroom for awhile.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jaemi Jamie Ann

Drs. Enig, Ravnskov, Kendrick…have all said similar things on cholesterol…

It’s good to educate others but something I have noticed in this Summit is that most presenters seem to regurgitate the original research and since most people who are “listening” (as far as I can tell from the comments) aren’t familiar with the original research, they may inadvertently think that this is breakthrough stuff.

That said, I appreciate the lectures by Groves and Graham and Masterjohn who have clearly done more and have come to their own analyses and interpretations.

I’m just making an observation is all!

  • Kh2fold

We still can’t deny the fact that consuming calories above total daily energy needs over time is the main contributing factor to weight gain. That’s how it works and there is no getting around that fact. Yes there are several contributing factors as to what type of weight is gained or where on the body that weight is distributed but the bottom line will always be, consume more than you expend and you will gain weight. Let’s stop telling the obese that the reason they are overweight has nothing to do with the fact that they eat too much and move too little. Hormones only dictate how weight is distributed; calories dictate how weight is gained.

    • AuGrl

Unfortunately, this is just simply incorrect.  I have been a practicing nutritionist for over 20 years and I can tell you with no uncertainty that many people have bodies that conserve energy and do not lose weight regardless of extremely low calorie diets, coupled with exercise.  There are others, still, who can eat and eat and eat, thousands and thousands of calories and not put on the expected weight.  Calories in vs. calories out does not always work in a human being.  Weight loss/weigh gain is not always about the math.  It absolutely is about the endocrine system as well, and that includes fat itself, a vital, hormone-secreting organ.

  • Renni_G

    Zoe,
I have been an advocate since my childhood and you are an inspiration. Exercising your analytical ability to question the relevance and validity of studies/trials/research is what everybody should be doing as companies trying to sell their products/programs will act like illusionists, cherry picking as you say just the pieces that will slant the public/buyer/lawmaker in the seller’s best interest, unfortunately not always for the good of the human race. However, as most of us are not chemists and laboratory researchers, the ‘information overload’ sometimes gets convoluted on who to believe. Do you have any suggestions how to screen out the wrong information? As some of us Americans say, “You go girl!”.

We desperately need to bring back the autopsy complete with testing of tissues and mineral analysis of bone. Currently in the US, only suspicious deaths get an autopsy. I believe we need this unbiased raw data to unequivocally prove the links between diet & health. Had it not been for the autopsy, we would still be watching commercials with Dr.’s recommending cigarettes.
